Group for the Promotion of Art, Culture and Heritage
Group for the Promotion of Art, Culture and Heritage was constituted with the vision to develop a wholesome personality of learners. It aims to provide a platform to students for developing artistic and creative expression through a variety of outlets: formal theatrical performances, dance, music, festival celebrations, cultural exchange programmes, and visits to places of national importance.
Objectives
- Enriching the educational offer of the university with cultural programmes.
- Cultivating sensitivity towards socially relevant issues and more expressiveness for personality development and life quality standards.
- Strengthening cultural values and preserving heritage.
- Providing a platform to students, teachers, and interested members from society to exhibit creative art work.
- Bringing together professionals and students of different cultures to organize and develop activities in the artistic fields of interest.
Overview & Achievements
The group recognises the comprehensive role of art as an expression of the cultural values of a society and works towards preserving these expressions for the benefit of future generations.
Our University has been added as a chapter of SPIC MACAY since 2016. SPIC MACAY intends to enrich the quality of formal education by increasing awareness about different aspects of Indian Heritage and inspiring the young mind to imbibe the values embedded in it.
The Group has been sanctioned an amount of Rs. 3,95,000 in February 2017 to establish a Music Appreciation and Education Club named ‘SOUND SYNTHESISER’.
Functions of the Club
- To educate and inculcate awareness among students of various forms of Indian and western music for all-round knowledge and sophistication in personality development.
- To help students appreciate and discuss various music forms and instruments. Students will broaden their musical tastes while critically thinking about the meanings behind songs and their lyrics and the situations when these compositions were made.
- Encourage students to learn vocal and instrumental music.
- To organize vocal and instrumental music shows and competitions at various levels.
