About NAAC

Education plays a vital role in the development of any nation. Therefore, there is a premium on both quantity (increased access) and quality (relevance and excellence of academic programmes offered) of higher education. The National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) An Autonomous Institution of University Grants Commission (UGC) has been set up to facilitate the volunteering institutions to assess their performance vis-a-vis set parameters. The Accreditation facilitates:

  • Institution to know its strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities.
  • Identification of internal areas of planning and resource allocation.
  • Collegiality on the campus.
  • Funding agencies look for objective data for performance funding.
  • Institutions to initiate innovative and modern methods of pedagogy.
  • New sense of direction and identity for institutions.
  • Society looks for reliable information on quality education offered.
  • Employers look for reliable information on the quality of education.
  • Intra and inter-institutional interactions.

About IQAC

In pursuance of its Action Plan for performance evaluation, assessment and accreditation and quality up-gradation of institutions of higher education, NAAC proposes that every accredited institution should establish an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) as a post-accreditation quality sustenance measure.

Objectives

  • To develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic action to improve the academic and administrative performance.
  • To promote measures for institutional functioning towards quality enhancement through internalization of quality culture.

Functions

  • Development and application of quality benchmarks/parameters.
  • Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment.
  • Arrangement for feedback response from students, parents and other stakeholders.
  • Dissemination of information on various quality parameters.
  • Organization of inter and intra institutional workshops, seminars.
  • Documentation of the various programmes/activities leading to quality improvement.
  • Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR).
