From the Desk of the Vice Chancellor ...

Dear young and dynamic aspirants for admission to the various programmes offered by the Central University of Haryana in the session 2014-15, members of the University fraternity, all the stakeholders, well-wishers and dear students,

Let me extend a very warm welcome to each one of you at the beginning of the current academic session. We have already shifted to our permanent campus at villages: Jant-Pali fulfilling the long-cherished dream of our first Vice Chancellor as well as the people of Haryana. I can see the glow on the faces of young students, faculty members and the entire administrative and support staff who have contributed immensely to the accomplishment of this Herculean task. Let me thank each one of them as well as the citizens, Sarpanches and other leaders of the two villages who have very eagerly welcomed the University with open arms and assured us of all cooperation and help. I have firm faith that the development of the University goes hand in hand with the development of the people in the region where it is located.

Universities cannot remain ivory towers or luxurious resorts of the elite of the society. They need to become engines of social transformation and architects of an egalitarian social setup. The entire humanity looks towards us with immense expectation and hope. Acquisition, creation and dissemination of knowledge should also be accompanied by development of sensitivity, responsibility and integrity among the learners. The challenge before us today is to strike a balance between the needs of technological and economic environment and inculcation of democratic and humanitarian values. Globalisation has created unforeseen challenges along with opportunities of economic development which also demand our immediate attention.

At Central University of Haryana we have a strong tradition of multidisciplinary approach to learning which enables us to address all the issues stated above. Let us pledge to continue and strengthen it and ensure creation of a wide horizon of knowledge, skills and wisdom among the students so that they may become enlightened citizens of a global family. Marching ahead together is our slogan – the surest path leading to peace, prosperity and happiness nationally and globally.

I invite you to become a partner in this journey and welcome you to the Central University of Haryana, villages: Jant-Pali, district Mahendergarh, Haryana.

Prof. U. P. Sinha,
Vice Chancellor (Acting)
