About Central Instrumentation Centre (CIC)

The Central Instrumentation Centre (CIC) at CUH, Mahendergarh, has been created with a mission to strengthen technological infrastructure for promoting R&D in the university. At present, the facility is equipped with three high-end equipment: Atomic Force Microscope, LC-MS/MS, and Bench-top NMR, which can be used for chemical/material analysis, testing, and characterization.

The facility will enable researchers to keep pace with worldwide developments and publish their research findings in peer-reviewed high-impact factor journals. This newly developed facility will be extensively used by postgraduate students, doctoral students, and faculty members, and will be further extended to external organizations (mainly academic institutions) on a chargeable basis.

🎯 Mission

To develop a state-of-the-art facility centre and promote optimum utilization of resources supporting analytical and research activities.

📋 Objectives

  • To carry out advanced research of various disciplines under a single roof and make services available to academic and private institutions.
  • To organize short-term courses/workshops on the use and application of various instruments and analytical techniques.
  • To develop skilled manpower in operation and maintenance of Sophisticated Instruments.

Facilities and Incharges

Orbitrap Mass Spectrometer

Orbitrap Q-Exactive Plus Mass Spectrometer

Incharge: Dr. Usha Nagarajan

An LC-MS system providing High Mass Accuracy and High Resolution. It provides fast, sensitive, reliable, and confident detection and identification of compounds in complex mixtures while maintaining full compatibility with U-HPLC.

  • Advanced Quadrupole technology.
  • High resolutions upto 140,000 @m/z 200.
  • Mass range m/z 50-6000.
  • High Mass accuracy of < 1 ppm.
NMR Spectroscopy

80 MHz Benchtop NMR Spectroscopy

Incharge: Dr. Manoj Kumar Gupta

The Central Instrumentation Center houses a Magritek benchtop NMR facility (SpinSolve 80 MHz). The primary purpose of this machine is to identify/characterize the organic compounds produced in the reaction and to monitor the progress of the reaction.

Usage: Synthetic methodology, catalysis, medicinal chemistry, natural product synthesis, green chemistry, drug discovery.

Atomic Force Microscope

Atomic Force Microscope (AFM, TOSCA-200)

Incharge: Dr. Rakesh Kumar

Scanning probe microscope designed to measure local properties such as height, morphology, friction, electrical, and magnetism. It raster-scans the probe over a small portion of the sample.

  • Modes: Contact mode AFM, Tapping mode AFM.
  • No sample preparation required.
  • Sample stage: 100 mm diameter.
  • X-Y scan range: 50 µm x 50 µm.
